Evrόtas

Oh to be Sappho in Sparta

And writhe with each pure wood-nymph daughter

To coil in the grove

In sport, or in love

And pray that they give me no quarter

The Evrόtas, or Eurotas, is a river which runs through Laconia in Greece, past Sparta and down to enter the sea at Lakonikos Bay. To either side of the delta are the two 'legs' of the Peloponnese Peninsula.
